This piece was an exploration of surface. Previous works have been largely flat in terms of paint application. This piece was a large transition point for my work and the type surface I was working towards.

Oil paint on an unprimed wood panel.

Created in my second semester of an Advanced Painting class. Playing with translucency and opacity, I wanted to explore glossy finishes with oil paint through glazing. The natural wood texture of the panel shines through the many layers of thin paint, affecting the final finish of the painting.
